Boccale Castle

The Castle
The Boccale Castle stands imposingly on the cliffs of the Livorno coast in the stretch of coast called "Boccale" or "Cala dei Pirati". Born as a watchtower of the Republic of Pisa, then transformed into a castle in the 20th century. It was renovated in the 16th century for Cosimo I. In the 20th century, Marchioness Ugolini converted it into an eclectic castle, which later passed to the Whitaker-Igham family. During World War II, the Nazis used it as a defensive bulwark. After years of abandonment, it has been restored and transformed into private residences. The complex now has a park, a swimming pool and exclusive parking for condominium use. The apartment in question is located on the first floor of the castle and has an exclusive covered terrace
Story
The Boccale Castle has a thousand-year history with very ancient origins, it was owned by Hugh Whitaker-Ingham, an English baron linked to the Marsala industry in Sicily. The castle, originally a Pisan tower, was later owned by various historical figures, including Marchioness Eleonora Ugolini and Count Rosolino Orlando. Transformed into a luxury residence by Whitaker-Ingham, the castle suffered a long period of neglect until its recent restoration and conversion into luxury apartments. Today, Castel Boccale is a place rich in history and charm, a symbol of elegance and beauty.
